Mission Focus
The following is a  letter from the Meyers dated April 15th, 2008:
Jesus continues to build Common Ground Church here in Oak Harbor, WA, and I am thrilled as always to be a part. I wish you could be here to experience firsthand how God has been providing for us. I’ll try my best through words…
When our worship leader left January 13th, he took most of the team with him and didn't leave much for me to work with
musically. However, since that time we have added a drummer, electric guitar player, bass player and vocalist. What more could a pastor ask for who is trying to build a church?
God is amazing! God is teaching me that He is the “Gardner”
Who does the pruning (John 15), and as a branch all I have to do is hang in there! We’ve seen quite a few families and individuals leave the church recently, but God has added just as many or more during the same time. It’s a joy to see Him at work like this! In a nut shell, that’s exactly what I have been doing at Common Ground; watching God work. All the glory to Him! Since January we’ve baptized five believers, added two men to the Board of Directors, nearly doubled our worship team, nearly quadrupled the number of Sunday School teachers and started another small group. Most recently we have not only added a worship leader (who is alternating Sundays with me) but a backup leader as well! As I am preaching through the book of Nehemiah on Sunday mornings, the reality hit me that God has called me to be a “rebuilder” at the Common Ground Church. As I lead the church down this road, please pray that God “strengthens our hands for the good work.” - Nehemiah 2:18
